Privacy Policy
Wine List AI ("Wine List AI," "we," "us") helps you scan restaurant wine lists and get recommendations matched to your taste. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language on purpose.
The short version. We collect the photos of wine lists you choose to scan, the taste preferences you tell us, and the wines you rate or save — so we can read the list and rank bottles for you. We don't sell your personal information.
Information we collect
- Wine list photos. When you scan a list, the images you capture are uploaded so they can be read and analyzed. You control when the camera is used.
- Taste preferences. Your answers to the onboarding questions (how bold you like reds, styles you'd rather skip, budget, and similar) so recommendations are personalized to you.
- Your wine activity. The lists you scan, the recommendations you receive, and the wines you rate or save to try later.
- Account information. If you create an account or use Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier (and email, if you share it) needed to sign you in. You can also use the app as a guest, in which case we create an anonymous session identifier instead of an account.
- Purchase information. If you subscribe, our payments partner processes the transaction and tells us your subscription status. We never receive your full card details.
- Diagnostics. Basic technical and crash data that helps us find and fix bugs.
How we use your information
- To read a scanned wine list and identify the bottles on it.
- To rank those bottles against your taste and show you personalized recommendations.
- To remember your scan history, ratings, and saved wines across your devices.
- To improve recommendation quality over time as you rate more wines.
- To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the app.
Service providers we share with
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the app. They process your information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and secure storage for scanned images.
- OpenAI and Google — process wine list images and text to identify wines and generate recommendations.
- RevenueCat and Apple — handle subscriptions and in-app purchases through the App Store.
- Sentry — collects crash and error diagnostics.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Guest mode
You can use Wine List AI without creating an account. In guest mode we tie your scans and preferences to an anonymous session on your device rather than to a personal profile. If you later create an account, your activity can be associated with it.
Data retention and your choices
We keep your information for as long as you use the app, so your history and preferences are there when you come back. You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, by contacting us at the address below. Some records may be retained where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Age
Wine List AI is about wine and is intended for adults of legal drinking age in their location. It is not directed to children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
